The 2023 appropriation bill was approved on Thursday by the Ogun State House of Assembly.
The parliamentarians approved the governor’s proposed N472,250,694,447.57 budget for 2023, which was made public over a month ago.
However, the Assembly changed the estimated revenue in 31 sectors across 26 agencies as well as the recurrent and capital forecasts.
The House Committee on Finance and Appropriations’ report came before the bill was passed.
The motion to adopt the report was made by the committee’s chairman, Olakunle Sobunkanla, and was seconded by his vice, Ganiyu Oyedeji.
The Whole House then unanimously approved the report by a voice vote.
The appropriation bill was read and approved clause-by-clause by the Committee of Supply, which was chaired by the Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo, at a plenary.
The study states that the capital expenses of four additional MDAs as well as the recurrent expenses of 22 MDAs were adjusted.
As a result, the budget’s proposed capital expenditure was decreased from N270, 411, 239,527 to N269, 605, 938, 723.32.
Additionally, the recurrent expense increased by N805.3m, from N201.839 billion to N202.6 billion.
The motion for the third reading of the bill was made by the Majority Leader, Yusuf Sheriff, and supported by the Whole House. The third reading of the law was performed in front of the members by the Clerk/Head of Legislative Service, Mr. Deji Adeyemo.
The Speaker ordered that Governor Abiodun receive a clean copy of the measure for his signature.
