Jorge Mendes, Cristiano Ronaldo’s longtime agent, was not involved in his Friday transfer to Al-Nassr as Portugal’s captain.
According to MARCA, Ronaldo’s personal manager Ricky Regufe oversaw his transfer to Al-Nassr.
Following Ronaldo’s transfer from Sporting CP to Manchester United, Regufe, who had previously served as Nike’s marketing manager, was a key player in the 2003 alliance between the sportswear company and Ronaldo.
Contrarily, Mendes has been Ronaldo’s agent for almost 20 years.
According to the article, since the forward left Manchester United in November, there had been tension in Ronaldo and Mendes’ relationship recently.
Recall that Ronaldo, who has spent more than 20 years playing in Europe, signed for Al-Nassr on Friday night, saying good-bye to European football.
The 37-year-base old’s pay with the Saudi Arabian team will be €90 million per year.
