Beneficiaries of the Enugu State Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) Center’s well-planned and creative programs have shared their experiences, calling them as “satisfying, distinctive, and edifying” under Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s leadership.

The recipients stated that they were “amazed by the inventive ingenuity of the handlers and the overwhelming productivity and achievements of the state government through the agency’s interventions.”

The beneficiaries, who painstakingly listed the intervention programs of Governor Ugwuanyi’s administration through the Enugu SMEs Center, informed Governor Ugwuanyi, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Enugu North Senatorial District in the upcoming general election, that they are firmly behind his senatorial bid and that of other PDP candidates in the senate race.

The State Coordinator of Beneficiaries of Enugu SMEs Programmes (BESMEP), Prince-Will Ugwu, said that the beneficiaries “have become core crusaders of the Ugwuanyi senatorial agenda due to your direct support of the Ugwuanyi senatorial agenda” when a delegation from Enugu North Senatorial District visited Governor Ugwuanyi at the Government House, Enugu, to express gratitude and present their businesses to the governor as

According to Ugwu, the Enugu SMEs Centre, under the direction of the governor’s Special Adviser on SMEs Development, Hon. Arinze Chilo-Offiah, launched a sustained and radical transformation to ensure that Enugu youths have access to high-income skills for the twenty-first century that open doors to employability and entrepreneurship development.

The Coordinator also noted that the innovative Human Capital Development Loan, “a zero interest loan to enable unemployed and underemployed individuals to access technical and professional training with job access or entrepreneurial support upon completion,” was implemented by the governor’s administration.

Ugwu noted that the Enugu SMEs Center had completed a number of programs, such as “Enugu Tech, a certified training on programming and product design, preparing our youths for globally in-demand tech skills; Enugu Youth Empowerment Scheme, a certified training in high-income digital marketing skills; Enugu Cybersecurity Learning Programme (EDAT), a certified training programme on globally relevant cybersecurity skills as a means to combat poverty, cybercrime, and other problems.

Other achievements, in his opinion, included the “Enugu Jobs initiative, a Municipal Wireless Network, offered by independent data resellers deployed in Enugu State, Nigeria, that is a low-cost paid secure Wi-Fi connection sponsored by Enugu State government, through the Enugu Wi-Fi project; and Enugu Wi-Fi project, a Municipal Wireless Network, sponsored by Enugu State government, through the Enugu Wi-Fi project;

The BESMEP Coordinator continued, saying, “Your Excellency, we cannot conclude the lengthy list of your accomplishments through the SMEs Centre without mentioning the Access to Capital Programmes, such as the Enugu SMEs Business Support Cash Advance Programme and the Enugu Micro Credit Lending Programme, which assisted in resolving the number one issue facing entrepreneurs: the lack of capital.

“Your Excellency, we have painstakingly listed all of the intervention programs of your administration through the SMEs so that every man of good will, who believes in the proverb that the reward for good work is more work, will see reason to align their thoughts with ours, that the senatorial bid of Governor Ugwuanyi should not be up for contest for any reason. Not only have we been saying it, but we have also taken intentional steps to support it.

“Those of us who are not from Enugu North Senatorial District are mobilizing and even sponsoring our friends from the North to make sure they all obtain their PVC to vote for you (Ugwuanyi), the PDP governorship candidate in Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, his running mate, Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai, and other PDP candidates in the State,” the statement reads.
