Gary Neville, a former Manchester United defender, expressed surprise at the club’s selection of Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham.

Erik ten Hag’s team was compelled to act quickly in the last days of the summer transfer window as a result of significant injury issues at the start of the season.

Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, for example, are out with injuries, and the Red Devils were close to signing Marc Cucurella from Chelsea.

Due to the loan cost, the Red Devils decided against signing Chelsea Cucurella and have since announced a loan agreement for Reguilon.

Former Red Devils defender Neville expressed his amazement at United’s pursuit of the Tottenham left-back.

Neville told Sky Sports, “I have to admit, I was a little surprised that we were going for Reguilon.

“Obviously, we have a Luke Shaw problem, so this is just a stop-gap, a short-term fix. They have compromised themselves in such situation.
