Posted by As the Lagos State Election Petitions Tribunal prepares to rule on petitions contesting the election of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, security measures at the Roseline Omotosho Courthouse in Ikeja have been increased.
Petitioners include Abdulazeez Adediran (Jandor), candidate for governor of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state in the March 18 election, and Mr. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, candidate for the Labour Party.
The courthouse’s main door was taken over by security personnel, who screened reporters, attorneys, and others entering the building.
Security personnel turned away a large crowd of would-be visitors.
Adediran claimed in his suit that the governor had given the Independent National Electoral Commission a fake West African School Certificate.
He continued, saying that in nominating Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat, APC had not followed the rules set forth by the Electoral Act.
In his appeal, Rhodes-Vivour also cast doubt on Hazmat’s eligibility to run for office on the grounds that he had renounced his Nigerian citizenship in favor of the United States of America.
