The Ibadan-born academic, 52, passed away on Wednesday morning following a brief illness, according to information obtained by kuryaloaded.
The deceased was born on June 15, 1970, in Ibadan.
He was one of the academicians that recently ran for vice chancellor of the University of Ibadan.
The deceased’s death was confirmed by Professor Fatai Adeniyi, vice provost of the College of Medicine at the University of Ibadan.
The dead was laid to rest in Ibadan at the University of Ife Muslim Graduates Association (UNIFEMGA) Rest Park in the Ile-Igbon neighborhood of the Lagelu local government.
On Wednesday, about 4 o’clock, the Janaza prayers (prayer for the dead) were offered for him.
In addition to earning a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Physiology of Exercise in May 1998 and a PhD in Neurological Physiotherapy in February 2001, Hamzat earned a Bachelor of Science (Honors) degree with Second Class-Upper Division in March 1994.
He left behind a wife and three kids.
