Following a prolonged offensive against the jihadists in the northeast region, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai reportedly conducted airstrikes, killing dozens of Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP)/Boko Haram militants.
Zagazola Makama, a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad region, made this information public on Wednesday via Twitter.
According to his sources, on July 9 and 10, 2023, an intelligence-led aerial mission targeted terrorist hideouts in Chikun, Gudu, and Jibularam, Kwalaram, Arinna Ciki in the Marte Local Government Area of Borno State, killing dozens of terrorists, including some unnamed commanders.
Following intelligence about terrorists travelling on seven motorcycles, the air force launched attacks at Talala in the axis of Sambisa forest.
“The strikes were successful as at least six bodies of the eliminated terrorists were sighted after the clearance operations,” he tweeted.
According to Makama’s information, Nigerian Air Force fighter jets have been seen flying aggressive patrols over the areas of Afa, Kafa, Buk, Talala, Galmasaku, Chiralia, and Ajigin.
Based on intelligence, we know that the terrorists are also present in Wajiroko, Sabon Gari, Gogore, Doksa Buni Yadi, and Buni Gari, and that they are using seven gun trucks and motorcycles to do so.
Remember that the Nigerian Air Force has recently engaged in aerial bombardments and the ground forces have engaged in tough clearance operations, leading to the deaths of numerous hardened ISWAP/Boko Haram militants in the northeast.
