The Igbo Day celebration in 2023 will take place in Rivers State, but not at the previous location announced by the Ohanaeze Ndigbo social and cultural organization.

Ohanaeze’s faction secretary general, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, claimed the venue had to be changed because of an impending attack.

The Liberation Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, was set to host this year’s Igbo Day festivities on September 29.

In spite of reports of an impending attack, Isiguzoro claims that the venue has been changed.

On Thursday morning, Isiguzoro told kuryaloaded, “The venue of this year’s Igbo day holding in Liberation Stadium has been moved to an undisclosed and restricted location in Rivers State.”

The event was moved because of security concerns about an impending attack or disruption. Those who were affected have been updated on the situation.
