This unprecedented outpouring of real sympathy, prayers, and solidarity from the people has deeply moved the governor, who has been on medical leave abroad for some time.
In a letter to the Ondo State Assembly, Akeredolu announced that he will be taking a 21-day medical leave of absence abroad, beginning on July 6, 2023 (today).
Akeredolu, through his Commissioner for Information Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, has expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and well wishes for his speedy recovery.
He also thanked the people of the state for continuing to pray for him and send him words of support as he works to get well again.
He claims that the support of the people of Ondo State, in particular, “have not only bolstered his determination to stand on his feet once again, but have also served as a driving force for him to continue serving the people.”
In a similar vein, he thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, his colleagues on the team and in the party, his fellow Governors, and the State House of Assembly members.
“This unprecedented display of genuine affection and solidarity has been a soothing balm and the reinvigorating elixir sustaining the determination, not only for the affable Governor to stand on his feet, but also, and most importantly, for him to continue his service to the people, especially the good people of Ondo State.
To the President and Chief of the Armed Forces, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and his staff, all party leaders, his brother Governors, and the members of the State House of Assembly, the Governor extends his gratitude for their support.
In the words of his friends and family: “He is in high spirits and expects to join the people of the State as soon as his doctors consider it expedient.”
