Benfica criticizes Chelsea for “disrespecting us” and “driving our player mad” in regard to Fernandez

Roger Schmidt, the head coach of Benfica, has criticized Chelsea, alleging that the Premier League powerhouses treated Enzo Fernandez disrespectfully.

The manager said that Chelsea’s efforts to push the transfer were successful in driving the Argentine “mad.”

The Argentine international’s £106 million release clause must be met for him to leave Benfica.

However, the Blues have made an offer of £112 million over three yearly installments in an effort to conclude a contract.

Along with winger Hakim Ziyech and two other loan players, Todd Boehly and his group also submitted £ 79 million.

Accusing Graham Potter’s team of “trying to pretend” that they can pay the release clause, Schmidt criticized Chelsea.

The manager emphasized that they really do not want the World Cup champion to leave the major Portuguese club, but he still expected the Blues to pay the clause in place rather than begin new negotiations.

He claims that Benfica won’t prevent Fernandez from leaving the club if he wants to and Chelsea fulfills the contract clause.

“Our player is wanted by a club. They are aware that we are not interested in selling the player, he informed the media on Thursday.
