Boehly’s Chelsea sustains another setback by bringing in a French star

Chelsea, led by co-owner Todd Boehly, has experienced another setback in their pursuit of Monaco’s Benoit Badiashile, a France international.

Remember that despite manager Graham Potter being evasive about Badiashile’s probable move to Stamford Bridge, Chelsea is in advanced negotiations to sign the Frenchman.

As Chelsea fights for a top-four spot, Potter is eager to boost his back line in the January transfer window and has deemed the 21-year-old center-back as the right target to bolster his team.

Monaco has been approached about paying about £35 million, but there are rumors that the French Ligue 1 team may demand much more.

Philippe Clement, the manager of Monaco, has now cautioned Chelsea that they are not the only team interested in acquiring Badiashile.

Before Sunday night’s Ligue 1 match between Monaco and Brest, Clement informed reporters, “I don’t think there is only one club that has approached Benoit Badiashile.”

Not just Chelsea, either. Over the past six months, there has been a lot of interest in a number of our players. Benoit also fits this description.
