Posted by Manager Mauricio Pochettino of Chelsea has spoken out on the news that defender Wesley Fofana has had ACL surgery.
After further evaluation by specialists, it was determined that Fofana, at age 22, would need surgery, thus he did not accompany Chelsea on their preseason tour of the United States.
Pochettino is disappointed that Fofana will be sidelined and that the mood around Chelsea is down because of it.
The news is really disappointing. We’re heartbroken over this. We can only help him,” Pochettino stated at Chelsea’s press conference before their preseason encounter against Wrexham in Chapel Hill.
“We know it’s a tough injury, but we hope he can be back with the team as soon as possible.”
