Disability-affected individuals in Kebbi APC want job

Disability-affected individuals in Kebbi State APC have complained about a lack of work prospects in the state’s civil service.

Under the auspices of the APC Awareness organization, the group agitated, explaining that many of its members are still without jobs even after earning degrees from tertiary institutions and pleading for the state government to take action.

The organization urged that the government support their handicrafts and other commercial endeavors in order to raise their socioeconomic standing. The group was led by its state coordinator, Anas Malami Gwandu.

Gwandu, who holds a BSc in Computer Science from the Federal University, said that his members were receiving scholarships from the state government to study at various tertiary institutions across the nation.

He clarified that the purpose of the visit was to express gratitude to the governor and the State government for their thoughtful action toward the state’s disabled citizens.

These have made it possible for some of us to complete our degrees, HNDs, ONDs, and other professional credentials with a variety of vocations as our majors.

Gwandu praised the Governor for supporting his initiatives by often visiting institutions to stay updated on the situation on the ground.

The group also recognized the state government for providing tricycles, kneepads, eye visual aids, walking sticks, and for renovating dorms, classrooms, healthcare facilities, and other educational supplies.

In response, the Kebbi State Government House Permanent Secretary, Aliyu Mustapha Gwandu, assured the group of the State government’s commitment to the socioeconomic advancement of people with disabilities. The State Governor, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.

The governor promised that his administration will support students with special needs as well as those with impairments in their academic pursuits.

This was stated in a press release given to journalists in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State, and signed by the governor’s top press secretary, Abubakar Mu’azu Dakingari.

In order to help the APC win the general elections in 2023, Governor Bagudu recommended people to enroll their children in school while continuing their own education.
