Elections: If I’m elected president, I’ll end the petroleum subsidy because it’s an organized crime, says Peter Obi

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, has called the nation’s fuel subsidy an organized crime and pledged to end it immediately if won in the February poll.

No sane nation, according to Obi, will spend more on product subsidies than it does on health care, education, and other important economic areas.

“Fuel subsidy is an organized crime, and if I’m elected president, I’ll get rid of it right now.

Which sane nation would spend more on subsidies than on healthcare, education, etc.? – PO.

While speaking at the People’s Town Hall 2023 hosted by Channels Television on Sunday, Obi also made similar statement.

“I can tell you that it will disappear right away. I’ve said it before, but subsidy is organized crime, and I won’t let it continue for another day.

“What they are saying is not accurate. Half of the topics covered do not involve subsidies. The first is that we consume more than is appropriate in this location. We are populated similarly to Pakistan. They only consume about half as much as humans do.

In order to save money, I will take out the first half and give the folks who are drinking it water as that is what they are intended to drink.

Obi further said he will also dismantle confusion in the ports’ administrations in order to get the country working.

“We are going to dismantle the confusion in the Ports Administration and get this country to work,” he said.
