France’s Sports Minister, Oudea-Castera, agrees with Benjamin Mendy: “Justice has been served.”

Amelie Oudea-Castera, France’s minister of sports, has spoken out about former Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy, who was exonerated of rape allegations and is now playing for FC Lorient.

Mendy’s contract with Man City expired earlier this summer, and FC Lorient has since confirmed that he has signed a two-year contract with them.

After being found not guilty of six counts of rape and one of sexual assault in January, Mendy was found not guilty of two counts of rape and one of attempted rape last week.

After Mendy was found not guilty of the rape charges against him, Oudea-Castera told FranceInfo that justice had been done.

Almost two years of his career and personal life were cut short, but now he is in sports rehabilitation, she said.

We must uphold the law because justice has been done. He’s been tried twice. You can’t have faith in the justice system if being found not guilty raises the same level of skepticism as being accused.
