Chelsea broke up Arsenal’s deal for Shakhtar Donetsk forward Mykhailo Mudryk. Now we know how Arsenal felt about this.
The Independent says that the Gunners were “irritated” when Chelsea came out of nowhere and stole the deal for their top January target.
The Blues broke their deal with Shakhtar Donetsk for Mudryk by making an eye-popping £97m offer.\
The player was close to joining the Gunners for £80 million, and this was looking more and more likely. In fact, Mikel Arteta was said to be sure that Mudryk would finish his move before the match against Manchester United next weekend.
But Chelsea swooped in and made a shocking deal with Shakhtar to get the Ukrainian player.
The Blues said on Saturday that they were “close” to completing a transfer that would cost £62 million up front and an additional £35 million in add-ons.
The player has also flown to London, where he will get a medical checkup on Sunday. He signed a 7-year deal with the team last week.
The Independent says that Arsenal is now “aggravated” by their London rivals, and a number of other Premier League clubs feel the same way.
They say that the owners of Blues New are “involved in everything.”
