Arteta will quit Arsenal, according to Friedel, whose report suggests the player made the decision on his own

After manager Mikel Arteta brought in David Raya from Southampton in the offseason, former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Brad Friedel predicted that Aaron Ramsdale would depart Arsenal at the end of the season.

After Arteta started Raya in victories against Everton and PSV Eindhoven, Ramsdale’s future at Emirates was called into question.

Since joining Arsenal in 2021, Ramsdale has been the team’s primary goalie.

Despite widespread belief to the contrary, Arteta has stated that he will be switching between Ramsdale and Raya on a frequent basis.

Friedel said on talkSPORT, “I thought from the second they signed him [Raya] they signed him to be the new no.1; I don’t think you pay that much money for someone with one year left on their contract; I know he signed an extra contract and went on loan, but that was for other reasons.”

It’s a tough break for Ramsdale, but ultimately it’s the coach’s call. I expect Ramsdale to be in the same position as Matt Turner was last year and look for a new team at the end of the season.
