Ian Wright, a former striker for Arsenal, said that he pleaded with Declan Rice to sign with the club this summer.

After weeks of speculation, former West Ham United captain Declan Rice officially joined Arsenal on Saturday.

Arsenal reportedly paid an English midfielder a club record £105 million to sign a five-year contract, as reported by Sky Sports.

The Englishman from West Ham was reportedly also of interest to Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Manchester United.

Wright also claimed responsibility for bringing the defensive midfielder to the red side of north London.

The former England striker claimed on the Wrighty’s House podcast, “When I went to the England camp, I was tapping him up. Hells yes, I was. I begged him to do it, seriously. I’m not affiliated with Arsenal in any way other than as a fan.

It’s only excitement, I told her, as I pointed up how good she looked with Saka.
