Imo North Senatorial District could produce the next governor of Imo in 2027, according to an elderly statesman from the Imo East Senatorial District, Architect Amaugo Ugorji, who made the statement on Saturday in Owerri.

This was said by architect Ugorji in response to the controversy surrounding the Imo charter of equity while speaking to reporters in Owerri.

While there were other controversial aspects of the deal, he claimed to be cognizant of his zone’s (Imo East) stance on the shift of equity.

He did say, though, that effective governance, regardless of the governor’s background, would be his ultimate aim. Despite Ohakim’s Okigwe Zone roots, I will not stand in the way of his possible return to office as governor. Nothing personal against Ohakim stems from my disapproval of his work during his prior term. I won’t be too upset if he becomes governor; I’ve witnessed some of his wonderful work.

I can see where he made some progress, but I also know that everyone has messier parts of their lives that need fixing. So, I won’t be mad if he becomes governor again—in fact, I wouldn’t object. Returning to the ranks of the nation’s cleanest cities is one area where I have no doubt the state will reap the rewards.

According to the constitution, Ohakim can only serve a maximum of one more term as governor after completing his first term. As long as there is an atmosphere that promotes fairness, I don’t care who controls me at any level. Regarding Ikedi Ohakim, I am not opposed to him. It doesn’t bother me that he’s running for governor again; he’s a kind guy.
