Timipre Sylva, Minister of State for Petroleum, will receive the customary title of “Sarkin Kudun Hausa” from the Daura Emirate Council.

The Emir of Daura, HRH Umar Farouk Umar, bestowed the honor.

Through his spokesperson Garba Shehu, President Muhammadu Buhari, a native of Daura in Katsina State, responded to the news on Friday.

Sylva’s “versatile and cross-cultural experiences, schooling, working, and exchanging wisdom in various parts of the country, and the world,” according to Shehu, are recognized in the title.

Sylva’s acceptance, in Buhari’s opinion, serves as a reminder of the need of religious and cultural tolerance, networking, and understanding in maintaining national unity.

The head of Nigeria is grateful for the Daura Emirate Council’s backing of his government.

According to the statement, “President Buhari prays for the Minister’s and his family’s safety.”
