The Nigerian Army ambushed the bandits in the local government areas of Giwa, Birnin Gwari, and Chikun, neutralizing 10 of them while destroying their camps.
According to Mr. Samuel Aruwan, Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, who verified this in a statement on Friday, Operation Forest Sanity troops neutralized eight bandits during ambush patrols in the general areas of Chikun and Birnin Gwari and seized six motorcycles.
According to information provided to the Kaduna State Government, troops set up ambush positions at bandits’ crossing points in the Buruku and Birnin Gwari areas. He added that the troops made contact with bandits and neutralized eight of them in the first successful mission while also reclaiming four motorcycles and three mobile phones.
He claims that after engaging bandits in a second mission, the troops captured two motorcycles.
He noted that during clearance patrols along the Sabon Birni-Maidaro-Dogon Dawa-Galadimawa-Kidandan-Fatika axes, “troops neutralized two bandits in a similar operation.”
He claimed that when clearing up camps near Garke and Galadimawa in the Giwa LGA, the troops also found one AK-47 rifle, two magazines holding 52 rounds, six motorcycles, and three mobile phones. They also discovered three Dane rifles, two magazines, some military uniforms, and nine motorcycles.
In addition, he added, “Governor Nasir el-Rufai received the reports with thanks and applauded the forces’ subtlety, bravery, and resilience in the successful operations.
