In Ibadan, the state capital, the Oyo State Government on Tuesday put up barriers around some commercial banks and cell towers.
The Director of Land Use Charge, Olufisayo Ogunbiyi, and the enforcement team from the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development said that the action was not unrelated to non-compliance with revenue payment to the state government coffers.
The commercial banks and the telecom companies had received notices before to the enforcement team’s arrival, he claimed. Their location would reopen for business once they paid the appropriate Land use fee.
