Katsina legislator bemoans the concentration of public hospitals in Buhari’s hometown of Daura

Malumfashi/Karfu Federal Constituency of Katsina State representative Babangida Ibrahim has expressed concern about the concentration of federal hospitals in Daura, the hometown of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Ibrahim requested that the proposed federal medical center in Daura be shifted to Funtua in a motion he made on Thursday to the federal minister of health.

The senator argued in his motion that Daura already has the Nigerian Air Force hospital whereas the entire Funtua region lacks even a single government hospital.

In order to combat the ongoing medical tourism abroad, the Federal Government constructed Nigerian Air Force Reference Hospital as a World Class institution in August 2019.

Despite the presence of the Air Force Reference Hospital and Daura’s proximity to Katsina, he said that leaving the Federal Medical Centre there would harm the interests of the state’s sizable population.

The lower chamber agreed with his motion and decided that the FMC Daura should be moved to Funtua.

Recall that Daura also received a federal university of transportation under President Buhari.
