Heads of Local Government Administration (HOLGAS) in Taraba State have been told to go back to their home communities by Governor Agbu Kefas.
He explained that this was done so that all 16 of the state’s councils on local matters could function at peak efficiency.
He further reasoned that this would allow every HOLGA to participate in the reform of their home government.
The order was given during a Wednesday meeting in Jalingo, the state capital, in the Government House’s Executive Chamber.
He urged the HOLGA to instead collaborate closely with the council’s traditional leaders, young people, and other key stakeholders.
He stressed the need of consulting with locals when deciding where to build courts and other infrastructure.
He cautioned them against viewing the change as a means to profit themselves, but rather as a way to aid in the development of their respective municipal administrations.
He also said that the councils’ rural areas would soon receive fertilizers and cereals at no cost to ensure a bountiful crop across the state.
He tasked them with expanding the government’s revenue streams and preventing revenue loss in all its forms.
