The 2023 appropriation bill for Katsina State was signed into law on Wednesday by Governor Aminu Bello Masari of that state.
Speaking at the occasion, Masari said that his administration will only sign bills for the following five months, making this one the final for his tenure.
He said that despite the state’s reliance on federal funding, his government was still able to fulfill its fundamental duties, like paying staff wages and providing meals in schools, and that they had made some significant strides in the state’s infrastructure.
Prior to introducing the measure for the governor’s elevation, Tasiu informed those in attendance at the event’s location that:
The overall budget has increased from N288, 633, 257, 963.00 as originally presented to N289,633, 257,693 as a result of the adjustment.
“As a result, the capital estimate has increased to N183, 924, 845, 400, maintaining its previous share of 63.5 percent of the overall budget.
Similar to that, Tasiu noted that the recurrent estimates currently stand at N105,789,412,562, or 36.4% of the entire budget.
