The Lagos State Government has stated that the 103 protest victims whose bodies were being prepared for mass burial were not from the Lekki tollgate, where the demonstration began in 2020.
A message issued on Sunday verified this.
According to the authorities, the bodies were collected from all around Lagos, including the neighborhoods of Ikeja, Ajah, Isolo, Ikorodu, etc.
No bodies were found at the Lekki tollgate, the statement said, and it also mentioned the jailbreak at nearby Ikoyi Prison.
After the #EndSARS violence and community fights in Fagba, Ketu, Ikorodu, Orile, Ajegunle, Abule-Egba, Ikeja, Ojota, Ekoro, Ogba, Isola, and Ajah, the Lagos State Environmental Health Unit gathered up bodies, the statement adds.
Ikoyi Prison had a breakout as well. The document’s 103 casualties were caused by these events, not the Lekki Toll-gate as was previously believed. It should be made clear that no body was found after the event at the LekkiToll Gate.
