On Friday night, gunmen reportedly abducted John Ugorji, proprietor of Johnny Supermarket and Pharmacy in Owerri, the capital of Imo State.

A witness reportedly saw Ugorji’s SUV pulled over between 10 and 11 p.m., and he was taken.

According to reports, Ugorji, a resident of Umueshi in the Ideato-South Local Government Area of Imo State, resisted his kidnapping, prompting the robbers to fire wildly into the air and scatter the crowd.

A source revealed the following details about his kidnapping by the armed guys in two automobiles: “He was accosted at his drugstore, but when one of his car’s tyres got caught in a gutter, he attempted to run from the assailants. They forcibly removed him from his vehicle, bundled him into theirs, and rushed away.

No one from the kidnappers has made touch with the family yet. It is our sincere wish that they will spare his life and allow him to safely return home.

Henry Okoye, the spokesman for the Imo State Police Command, confirmed the claim to KURYALOADED

An eyewitness reported that armed individuals had dragged a man out of his vehicle and taken him hostage at Ikenegbu, Owerri Urban, and the command received a distress call about it.

Fast action brought anti-kidnapping squad personnel to the location. Unfortunately, the criminals had already fled with the victim before police arrived, as stated by Okoye.

The relatives of the victim has not yet filed an official report with the authorities. “However, covert operations are currently underway to locate and apprehend the kidnappers responsible for this crime,” he said.
