According to the Italian publication Tutto Mercato Web, Andrea Pirlo, the former head coach of Juventus, is one of the shortlisted contenders to succeed Roberto Martinez as manager of Belgium.
Remember that Martinez led the Belgian national team for six years starting in 2016 before stepping down.
Following Belgium’s early elimination from the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, the Spaniard just announced his resignation from the position.
On Monday, Martinez was chosen to lead the Portugal national team (today).
The aforementioned daily reports that the Belgian football federation would start interviewing candidates this week.
They are claimed to have chosen a few prospects from a larger pool of applicants.
Pirlo is one of the candidates being considered for the position in Belgium.
