The National Youth Service Corps has urged everyone involved to remain committed to the program, which seeks to reshape Nigerian college grads into agents of national development.
It also urged individual state governments to set up suitable Orientation Camps across their territories, noting that this is the first impression that state governments will have on Corps recruits.
This was announced at the Kaduna-based Opening Ceremony of the 2023 Batch ‘B’ Orientation Course Workshop with the theme “Repositioning the NYSC Orientation Course in the Post -Golden Jubilee Era for Effective National Service” by the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Yusha’u Dogara Ahmed.
The success of the 2023 Batch ‘B’ Orientation Course, he noted, depends on the Scheme’s tight collaboration with key stakeholders.
Kaduna State Government’s efforts were greatly valued by General Ahmed, but he urged the state to provide “a more befitting Orientation Camp for the State because of its implications for the welfare of participants and the general success of the Orientation Course.”
He continued by saying that substantial policy guidelines for the efficient execution of the 2023 Batch ‘B’ exercise will be developed during the workshop.
The upcoming exercise will be carried out with increased dedication, Director, of Planning, Research and Statistics, Ahmed Wada Ikaka, informed prospective corps members, parents, and other stakeholders in his opening address.
The governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, also gave a speech, praising the Scheme for the great things it has accomplished and the significant progress it has brought to Nigeria since its beginning more than half a century ago.
Key officials from the NYSC and its partner agencies meet during the Pre-Orientation Workshop to assess how prior drills were executed and to plan for future enhancements.
