Erik ten Hag, manager of Manchester United, has criticized the club’s transfer policies prior to his appointment.

The Premier League team has, in the Dutchman’s opinion, acquired “average players.”

United came in sixth place last season, 13 points off the top four.

It left Ten Hag, who signed from Ajax in the summer, with a significant rebuild to do.

“Last season, Manchester United lacked the intimidation factor.

No spirit was present. The squad lacked any sense of teamwork. There was very little mental toughness. I observed that from a distance. In my initial weeks at the club, I too became aware of it.

“In recent years, the club has purchased an unbelievable quantity of players that weren’t good enough.

Average is not good enough at United, yet the majority of my purchases have been average. In an interview conducted in his country, Ten Hag said, “The United shirt weighs hard.

With 35 points, United are currently in fourth position, nine points back of league leaders Arsenal.
