The murderers of Mr. and Mrs. Kehinde Fatinoye, who were assassinated on January 1, are being sought for, according to an order from Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun to the Ogun State police command.
The Fatinoyes were attacked by some as-yet-unidentified individuals as soon as they arrived home after the New Cross Over ceremony on Sunday, killing and setting them on fire, according to an earlier DAILY POST article.
The wife held the position of Principal Confidential Secretary at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, while the husband worked for the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Abeokuta, till his death (FUNAAB).
Their lone child, who had been taken hostage by the attackers, was discovered dead in the Ogun river on Tuesday.
In response, Abiodun said in a statement released on Wednesday by his chief press secretary Kunle Somorin that the murderers would not escape justice and that “the police must go after them and catch them.”
Abiodun, who called the tragedy regrettable and heartbreaking, said that his administration will not be reluctant to use resources to identify those responsible for the heinous deed.
Abiodun expressed dismay at the incidence, especially in light of the fact that his administration had worked to bolster the state’s security infrastructure.
He declared that “no effort would be spared” to bring the criminals responsible for the horrible act to justice.
Abiodun expressed sympathy to the families of the deceased and promised to provide logistical help to the police so that the crime would not go down in history as one of the unsolved murder cases.
