On Saturday, El-Rufai made the announcement on Twitter.
According to him, Lagbaja inspires fear among criminal organizations like Boko Haram, bandits, and the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
“I am very familiar with the new COAS. When I left office as governor of Kaduna State, General Taoreed Lagbaja was the GOC. He is always the one to take the initiative and lead the way.
He singlehandedly led the charge against bandits in Kaduna State. In the northeast and southeast, he repeated the same thing. He is well-known and respected among the members of Boko Haram, IPOB, ESN, and the bandits. “He is the best person to serve as COAS,” El-Rufai said on Twitter.
