Gianluca Vialli, a legend for Chelsea and Italy, passed away at the age of 58.
Five years have passed since his initial pancreatic cancer diagnosis.
Between 1996 and 1999, Vialli made 88 appearances for the Blues and scored 40 goals.
When he managed Chelsea, he later won three significant titles.
After receiving the all-clear for his health in 2020, Vialli earned 59 caps for Italy and collaborated with Roberto Mancini’s coaching staff on the squad that won the European Championships in England the following summer.
When he returned to the Royal Marsden hospital in December for additional cancer treatment, which he referred to as “an unwanted visitor,” he resigned from his position.
Olivia and Sofia, his wife Cathryne White Cooper’s daughters, and Vialli’s wife survive him.
