Warning issued to Man Utd on the Cristiano Ronaldo Rule

Alan Hutton, a former Tottenham Hotspur defender, has advised Manchester United that their new “Cristiano Ronaldo rule” may be challenging to put into practice at Old Trafford.

No player in the current roster would receive a wage of more than £200,000 per week, according to a new rule established by Manchester United, reported the Daily Mail.

The regulation was put in place to prevent teammates’ wage discrepancies from causing jealously in the locker room.

David De Gea, the goalie for Manchester United, is now employed on a contract that pays him £375,000 per week, therefore he will soon be subject to the rule.

De Gea’s contract will expire next summer, and the Spaniard has been offered a deal with a significantly lower salary.

Hutton said it would be difficult for Man United to put the “Ronaldo rule” into effect because every player would have to accept it.

“I think it basically keeps a cap on it, so it doesn’t get out of control,” Hutton remarked. I am aware of how changing rooms operate. Conflict will eventually occur if you’re one of the key players and you see that someone else who isn’t playing as much is getting paid more than you.

He added, “Everybody has to buy into it and what happens to the players that are over that budget at this moment in time? There are other conditions that go along with it. I am aware of organizations like Tottenham who primarily stick to it. It’s up to the club to put it into practice, although it’s obviously challenging.
