The Abuja Electrical Distribution Company (AEDC) is appalled by the ongoing vandalism to its property in Abuja.

AEDC also bemoaned the theft of a $5 million underground power wire in the region, which prevented it from providing its services.

Donald Etim, the Chief Marketing Officer of AEDC, explained in a statement that recently, 185 meters of XLPE underground cable worth more than N5 million were carted away at the Central Business Area in Abuja FCT. This incident was just one of many that have been similarly impacted throughout their franchise.

He bemoaned the multiplying effect that the vandalism of its equipment produces, which amounts to billions of naira.

He asserts that “AEDC will not give up on its efforts to ensure it offers adequate, uninterrupted power supply, which is why the company’s continued investments in network upgrades, refurbishment of damaged transformers, purchase of new transformers, as well as the construction of new feeders and lines to relieve existing ones, are all being made by the company.”
