Allah will punish those who imitate western marriages severely, the imam warns Muslims

Yahya Al-Yolawi, the chief imam of Area 10 Garki Mosque, has chastised Muslims for copying western wedding traditions and other celebrations.

The preacher cautioned that Allah is severe in retribution during his sermon on “Innovations in Islamic Marriage” on Friday in Abuja.

According to Yolawi, who was quoted by NAN, Islam is extremely clear about what is permissible and what is not.

According to him, the “creations and additions” of the present day are not rooted in Islam or the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad.

The religious authority described such unIslamic practices as illegal, westernized, and associated with poor cultures and customs.

Others include “waiting for a ready-made husband or wife; wasteful spending; and display of class and rank while unnecessarily delaying marriage in the guise of colleges and university studies.”

Yolawi maintains that some Muslims’ recent behavior contradicts Islamic principles, discourages those who want to get married, and encourages poverty, immorality, and adultery.

The Imam calls for the youth, parents, royal fathers, religious and community leaders, and other stakeholders to address the issue.

“We must educate ourselves on the correct Islamic views on marriage, beginning with the ceremony of getting married on the wedding day and continuing with what comes next.

“Allah commands us to join in acts of righteousness and piety but not in acts of sin and hostility. And dread Allah; truly, the punishment of Allah is harsh, Yolawi emphasized.
