Awoniyi receives the Man of the Match honor for a second straight game

Following Wednesday night’s 1-0 victory over Southampton at the St. Mary’s Stadium for Nottingham Forest, Super Eagles forward Taiwo Awoniyi was given the honor of being named man of the match.

Awoniyi received the honor a second time after being named the best player in Forest’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea on New Year’s Day.

The international player from Nigeria gave Steve Cooper’s team its first victory away from home this year with the game-winning strike.

Brennan Johnson (22%), Renan Lodi (21%), and Joe Worrall (12%) finished in second, third, and fourth place, respectively, behind the 25-year-old who received 45% of the votes.

Awoniyi scored the game-winning goal in three of Nottingham Forest’s four Premier League victories thus far this season, which have all been 1-0 victories.

In 16 league appearances for Nottingham Forest so far this year, Awoniyi has scored four goals.
