Buhari demanded the dismissal of all Service Chiefs

President Muhammadu Buhari has been requested to fire all of the Service Chiefs in light of the recent spike in insecurity in the nation.

It is thought that the removal of the Service Chiefs will open the door for a reorganized and reformed security architecture.

In order to prevent the Chief of Defence Staff, Lucky Irabor, and other Service Chiefs from spreading false information about Nigeria’s security, well-known civil society organizations and a security consulting firm issued a warning.

The CSO was responding to assertions made by the National Coalition of Concerned Citizens on Peace and Security, an unidentified civil society group, that the country’s security situation had significantly improved.

Readjusting defense and security policies, according to the CSO, which operates under the auspices of Southern Kaduna Peace Practitioners (SOKIPEP) and the Conference of Security Consultants in Nigeria, is the key to winning the support of the majority of the populace.

In a joint statement, Prof. Hassan Ibrahim Daura, National Coordinator of the Conference of Security Consultants in Nigeria, and Rev. Dauda Fadia, National Coordinator of SOKIPEP, questioned why Nigerians should buy into the so-called “victory” narrative peddled by cash-and-carry organizations when the Northeast and North West have remained under the control of state enemies.

The statement begins: “By way of introduction, we state that we are prominent members of the Conference of Security Consultants in Nigeria and the Southern Kaduna Peace Practitioners (SOKIPEP), committed to a secure, peaceful, and violence-free Nigeria.

“We categorically declare that the narrative spread by our country’s opponents, who have the strongest feeling of patriotism, is not an accurate depiction of what is taking place throughout the six geopolitical regions of the nation.

“It suffices to say that the appalling scenario, as far as the country’s security situation is concerned, has not much improved.

We don’t understand why some Nigerians will be exploited to portray things as positive even when the reality on the ground suggests otherwise.
