Monday saw a prayer for peaceful elections in Nigeria from the Republic of Burundi.
The Special Envoy of President Evariste Ndayishimiye was received by President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House in Abuja.
Audace Niyonzima, minister of finance, budget, and economic planning, accompanied Ndayishimiye.
According to the envoy, President Évariste Ndayishimiye wished the nation well in the general elections set for February and March in his New Year’s greeting.
We pray for a peaceful and successful election so that Nigeria can continue to be known as a haven of stability and peace, he added.
According to President Buhari, Nigeria will assist Burundi in various ways as needed in the spirit of African brotherhood and togetherness.
The leader said that he understands how it feels for a country to have an energy scarcity in response to a plea for assistance with energy provision, particularly fuel.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) was told that the request would be investigated by the President.
Buhari continued by saying that since he had completed the two terms in office required by the constitution, he was looking forward to the elections and retiring.
