FIFA is looking into how Salt Bae, a Turkish chef, was able to have “undue access” to Argentina’s post-final festivities in Qatar.

After Argentina’s victory over France in the World Cup final, Bae, whose actual name is Nusret Gokce, shared several pictures of himself holding the trophy on social media.

He was also seen attempting to strike a pose for a picture with Lionel Messi, the Argentina captain, and a number of La Albiceleste teammates.

His continued presence after the title ceremony is currently the focus of a FIFA inquiry due to intense backlash.

In a widely circulated statement, FIFA said: “Following a review, FIFA has been investigating how persons gained unauthorized access to the pitch following the December 18 closing ceremony at Lusail Stadium. We’ll take the proper internal action.

Bae shared a photo on Instagram earlier this month of himself at a 2022 World Cup game with Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, and Brazilian giants Ronaldo, Cafu, and Roberto Carlos
