He’s been beaming – Ten Hag assesses Sancho and Martial’s performances in the last victory

Erik ten Hag, manager of Manchester United, commented about Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial following the team’s Carabao Cup semi-final win over Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.

The Dutchman feels Anthony Martial will have a significant impact in the second part of the season.

Manchester United led 3-0 going into Wednesday’s second leg, with Martial and Fred scoring 2-0. Forest was defeated 5-0 on aggregate.

They will now face Newcastle United in the final later this month at Wembley Stadium, ending the Red Devils’ almost six-year trophy drought.

Sancho and Martial appeared in the second half as exciting cameos.

Sancho had only recently returned to training after undergoing personal fitness, but Ten Hag was overjoyed to see how well he was received by Red Devils fans.

“I think he appreciated being back on the pitch,” Ten Hag told BBC Radio 5 Live. He’s been smiling a lot lately in Carrington.”

Martial, for his part, had missed United’s previous three games but returned with a goal.

“We know what Antony Martial can do if he’s fit, and he’s not even fit,” Ten Hag said.

The former Ajax manager predicted that with Anthony Martial fit and in strong form, Manchester United fans would see a new lineup.

He stated that if the athlete had not been injured, he would have demonstrated his abilities.
