Posted by Even though he was never given the opportunity, Jose Peseiro exceeded expectations as coach of the Super Eagles, according to Rafiu Ladipo, President General of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, NFSC.
In addition, he advised the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to hire a coach who was on par with Peseiro rather than someone who fell short of his expectations to lead the Super Eagles.
In a parting statement posted on Friday, Peseiro thanked the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and other Nigerian football stakeholders for the chance to coach the Super Eagles.
Peseiro guided Nigeria to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final in Ivory Coast.
In an interview with NAN, Ladipo commented on the news:
The time has come to stop settling for a coach who isn’t as good as [Jose] Peseiro and start searching for someone who is.
Whether we approve or not, he led our team to the 2023 AFCON finals.
“Despite never having a shot, Peseiro went above and beyond, advancing all the way to the final against the host nation, Ivory Coast, and exceeding expectations and the goal of a semi-final berth.”
