The death of rapper Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, better known by his stage name Mohbad, will be investigated, according to the Nigeria Police Force.

The cause of the 27-year-old’s death on Tuesday remains unknown.

Force Public Relations Officer Muyiwa Adejobi released a statement on Thursday reading, “The Lagos State Commissioner of Police has been tasked to unravel the circumstances surrounding his death.” We guarantee you that as new information becomes available, we will keep you apprised.

Adejobi stated his deepest sympathies to Mohbad’s loved ones, saying, “We understand the concerns regarding his untimely demise.”

He stated that NPF “is committed to a comprehensive investigation into the matter,” and that the Lagos CP had been instructed to look into the situation.

Those with relevant information were urged to “approach the Lagos State Commissioner of Police,” presumably a relative or friend.

In the interim, we ask that no one say or do anything that could compromise the inquiry, the statement reads in part.
