Jesse Lingard, an offensive midfielder for Nottingham Forest, launched a fierce onslaught against Manchester United.
Man United, according to Lingard, “gave him false promises,” and his departure from Old Trafford may have been “political.”
The 30-year-old talked before Tuesday night’s Premier League match between Man United and Nottingham Forest.
“I don’t know why I didn’t play [when I was a Man United player]. I have no idea what the issue was, whether it was related to politics or something else, Lingard told the Telegraph.
“To this day, I still have not received a response. I didn’t even inquire.
“I would have preferred if someone had explained to me why I wasn’t playing out of respect for me staying there for so long, but I never got that.
False promises were made. I had been working out hard, and I was mentally sharp and prepared for the games.
