In memory of those killed yesterday during the bikers’ procession portion of the ongoing Calabar Carnival, Governor Ben Ayade, President Muhammadu Buhari’s daughter, Zahra Buhari Indimi, his commissioners, carnival authorities, participants, visitors, and tourists held a moment of quiet.

Over ten people were killed and twenty more were badly injured when a car lost control and slammed into spectators and onlookers on one of the carnival routes in Calabar.

The major carnival exercise’s flag-off ceremony included the observance of the moment of silence.

The flag-off event was held in Calabar at the Eleven Eleven Roundabout.

The governor defended the carnival’s Agro-Industralization theme for this year.

He asserted that Africa must abandon its outdated system of processing agricultural products.

“The time has arrived for Africans to abandon their crude method of product processing.

The final product is when any agricultural product truly finds its value, according to the governor.
