Following the paucity of the redesigned denominations of the currency, operators of POS systems in Zamfara State have resorted to collecting 10% of withdrawals in new naira notes.
“I paid the sum of N500 as a 10% before I was able to collect the sum of N5,000 from the POS, apart from the customary N100 commission,” claimed Aisha Magaji, a bank customer who aired her dissatisfaction.
“Where is this country going?” she bemoaned further. Because of mismanagement of public resources, the rich are getting richer while the poor are getting impoverished on a daily basis.”
She claimed that the situation had gotten out of hand since commercial banks and POS operators were unable to provide cash to their consumers.
“If you question why such a scenario has occurred, the apex bank blames commercial banks, and commercial banks blame the CBN for disbursing insufficient cash.”
“Then who is fooling who? “The public must ask the federal government, the CBN, and the commercial banks this question,” she stated.
Another bank customer, Mohammed Abubakar, stated that he left his house shortly after morning prayer on Sunday and still saw over 200 people waiting to get their hard-earned money at the bank.
According to kuryaloaded investigations, stores and malls are now holding clients hostage by forcing them to spend their money on products they don’t need in order to avoid taking changes in old notes.
