Ogundele J. Ayodeji, the commissioner of the Niger State Police, has ordered a widespread deployment of police officers and other operational resources to ensure that the state is adequately secure before, during, and after the holiday season.
In a statement issued in Minna and signed by DSP Wasiu Abiodun, the state police public relations officer, he claimed that the deployment of officers will stop any unfavorable incidents during the time period.
The statement read: “Today, December 21, 2022, at Police Officers’ Mess, Minna, the CP conveyed the direction to officers at his monthly conference with HODs/Area Commanders and DPOs.
To further prevent any untoward incident, “he additionally directs Tactical Commanders, Area Commanders, and DPOs to deploy personnel to public areas, places of worship, and other recreation centers.”
Ayodeji urged police to rigorously abide by the operating directives made for the season and to guarantee high visibility policing throughout the state’s highways for appropriate traveler security and unhindered traffic flow for road users.
He said: “The display of force [is] to [act] as a] deterrent for potential hoodlums and quick rapid response for intervention in case of any incident. In addition to township patrol.”
However, he urged the general public to uphold the law before, during, and after the Yuletide and to keep providing the police with relevant information in order to ensure a peaceful environment.
Then, as he wished locals and Christians a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, he reaffirmed the command’s continuous commitment to providing security, maintaining law and order, and protecting lives and property, among other obligations.
