Kashim Shettima, the vice president of Nigeria, has promised the people of his country that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration will fix the country’s infrastructure problems.

On Wednesday, in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, Vice President Shettima issued the promise while paying Sallah homage to the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Garbai El-Kanemi.

He promised that the problems with the Gamboru Ngala, Dikwa, and Damboa highways in Borno State, among others, would be fixed.

After paying respects to the king, the Vice President spoke with the press:

He explained that they had traveled to see His Royal Highness Shehu of Borno along with the Governor of Borno. He brought out some serious problems facing society, notably with reference to the lack of necessary infrastructure.

We told him that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu sent his warmest wishes.

The Shehu raised concerns about the state of the roads, stressing the importance of fixing the Gamboru Ngala and Dikwa routes right away. Certainly, Damboa’s issue will be dealt with as well.

I came to give the Shehu the word that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is fully behind him in whatsoever he does. As a nation, we are strong enough to weather any storm.

After praising Vice President Shettima for being a man of the people and a grassroots politician, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum said, “The visit is very important to Borno people and it is a home coming for our son.”

The Kanuri-speaking Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Garbai El-Kanemi, spoke highly of the Vice President, calling him a “worthy son of Borno State,” and noting that the widespread support he received was evidence of the deep affection for whom he is held.

The Shehu asked the Bola Tinubu administration for help fixing the state’s crumbling infrastructure and securing the country.

He vowed that the people of the State will stand with the government.

Muhammadu Indimi, an elder statesman in the state of Borno, was a guest at the Vice President’s home in Maiduguri.
