Declan Rice’s transfer to Arsenal and new jersey number are disclosed.

On Saturday, Arsenal announced that they had reached an agreement to purchase Declan Rice from West Ham for a then-record cost of £105 million.

Rice has signed a five-year contract with the Gunners that will keep him there until 2028.

Arsenal, though, has the option to extend the deal by a further year.

At the Emirates, Rice will wear the number 41 that he prefers.

This is the largest transfer fee ever paid between two British clubs, surpassing the £72m that Arsenal paid to Lille for Nicolas Pepe in 2019.

Chelsea’s purchase of midfielder Enzo Fernandez from Benfica in January cost them £106.8 million, making Rice’s acquisition almost as expensive.

The 24-year-old will go to the United States with Arsenal next week for their preseason tour, along with new teammates Jurrien Timber and Kai Havertz.
