If the Federal Government does not arrest Asari-Dokubu, the group has threatened to mobilize its members for a statewide protest across all 36 states of the federation.

HURIWA’s National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, issued the threat in a statement on Thursday.

“Asari-Dokubo must be arrested by the Department of State Services or any other relevant security agency over his suspected connection to the violent phenomenon of ‘unknown gunmen’ in the South-East,” the group stated. The Nigerian government must arrest Asari Dokubo immediately, or the Federal Government will indirectly task Igbo youths, Igbo lovers, and other organisations that support the Igbo people’s well-being to commence peaceful protests at the same time.

“HURIWA is giving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu 72 working hours to order the arrest and investigation of Asari Dokubo over his suspected involvement in the violent phenomenon of unknown gunmen in the South-East, or HURIWA will call her members to a protest in Abuja next week.”

“Illegality must not be allowed to continue while security agencies pretend not to know or refuse to act knowingly.” Asari-Dokubo should be detained. Nigeria does not resemble a banana republic.”
